When would a Mandatory or Recommended attachment be used?
District Staff are able to customize the Optional Status list. If you have the correct credentials, this is the knowledge base article link How to Customize Item Attachment Status
Often districts will add the status of Mandatory and Recommended to the Optional list. These are added as optional status options so the item is removed as a commitment from the student after the expiry date. They are used when the selection of Required is not required.
Any of these Optional choices will not result in an item commitment staying with the student. If not paid by the end of the expiry date, it will fall off as a student commit

Mandatory
- is recommended when the item should be purchased for the student
Recommended
- is suggested for those items that would be good to purchase for the student
