Introduction
This guide explains how to use the Change Role feature in SchoolFunds Online. This feature helps users switch roles within the system to better understand different user experiences, aiding in training, onboarding, and troubleshooting.
Overview
The Change Role feature in SchoolFunds Online (SFO) allows specific users to log in as a different role within the system. This helps users better understand the experience of other roles for training, onboarding, or troubleshooting purposes.
Who can access this feature?
Access to this feature depends on permissions configured in User Management. Users can only log in as roles below their current level. For example, a District 100 User can log in as a Bookkeeper or Teacher but not as another District-level user.
Roles typically granted access to the Change Role feature include:
- District 100 Users
How does this feature work?
The Change Role feature allows users to switch seamlessly between roles. Users can only access features and permissions of roles at a lower level. If the district has configured customized user roles, those customizations remain active and visible during the Role Change. However, profile-specific details for the original role remain restricted.
Change Role
- Click the Profile icon at the top right of the SFO interface. When Change role is enabled, this icon replaces the standard Logout icon.
Profile icon: - Select Change role from the dropdown menu. A new page opens with a list of available roles at or below the current user's level.
Additional Information
If a user does not have permission to use the Change Role feature, the Logout icon remains visible.
Exit Role
To exit the current role and return to the original role, click Exit Role. This redirects the user back to their homepage without needing to log in again.
