Introduction

This article explains how to install a SIM card on a SchoolCash POS device and confirm its connectivity. Follow the steps below to properly insert the SIM card and configure the device settings.

Note: Screenshots may not represent your exact device. Please read the following instructions carefully.

  1. Power off the terminal.
  2. Unlock and remove the back cover.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Insert the SIM card into the slot labeled SIM1 with the gold connectors face-down and with the cut corner facing the bottom left side (see the graphic on the terminal).
  5. Replace the battery.
  6. Replace and lock the back cover.
  7. Power on the terminal.
  8. From the main Android screen, tap the Settings icon (gear).
  9. Tap the Password field to access the on-screen keypad
  10. Enter the password: pax9876@@.
  11. Tap the green checkmark.
  12. Select OK.
  13. If Wi-Fi is ON, toggle it OFF to prioritize mobile data.
  14. Tap Data usage.
  15. Ensure Mobile Data is toggled ON.
  16. If the merchant cannot see the Mobile Data toggle, tap the back arrow and tap SIM Card.
  17. If SIM 1 is greyed out and displays SIM empty, reinstall the SIM card.
  18. At the top of the screen, tap the Back arrow to return to Network and Internet Settings.
  19. Tap Mobile Networks. If the option is greyed out, follow Install or remove SIM Card.
  20. Tap Advanced.
  21. Ensure the toggles are on for Mobile Data, Roaming, Mobile Data Always Online, VoLTE, and automatically select Network. Preferred Network type should be set to 4G/3G/2G auto.
  22. Scroll down and tap Access Point Names.
  23. Tap on the three dots.
  24. Select Reset to default. 
  25. Select OK on the confirmation pop-up.
  26. Tap the plus symbol to add a new APN.
  27. Tap Name and enter the APN name.

    • Telnyx
    • TNS
  28. Tap APN and enter the APN address.
    • Bell-mnet.bell.ca.ioe, then tap OK
    • Telnyx-data00.telnyx, then tap OK
    • TNS-synapse.tnsi.com, then tap OK
  29. Tap the three dots
  30. Select Save.
  31. Tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the main screen.
  32. Confirm connectivity and perform a test transaction to ensure the terminal is working.
