Overview

When an investment matures, transfer principal (and any remaining interest) back to SGF and close the Investment account if it will no longer be used.

Steps

  1. From the Investment account, go to General > Transfer Entries > Transfer Between Two Commercial Bank Accounts.
  2. Transfer the original principal to the SGF Investment category.
  3. Create a second transfer for any interest to the SGF Investment Interest category.
  4. Reconcile both accounts to reflect the transfers.
  5. If the Investment account will not be reused, set its status per district policy so it no longer appears in daily workflows.

Outcome

Funds are returned to SGF, reports align, and the Investment account is cleaned up or closed.

Note: This transfer only moves funds within SchoolCash Accounting accounts.  You must initiate a transfer between your physical bank accounts at your banking institution as well.
