Introduction
This article explains how to create a QR code for an item in SchoolCash. QR codes can be generated for items with a Fee Link, such as Public or Unlisted items. These codes help facilitate payments from parents who are not registered with SchoolCash Online, while encouraging registration for better tracking and reporting.
Key Considerations for QR Codes
Items made Public or Unlisted allow access for those who are not registered. However, purchases made using QR codes will not detach the item from the student in SchoolCash reports. Attached fees paid through QR codes will appear in SchoolCash Catalog reports after school purchases but will not show the student as paid under the attached student payment section.
Caution
Encourage parents to register with SchoolCash. QR codes provide an opportunity for unregistered parents to pay for items, but registration ensures better tracking and reporting of payments.
Steps to Create a QR Code
Follow these steps to create a QR code:
- When creating the item, set it as Public or Unlisted. For more information, refer to the article Difference Between Public and Unlisted.
- Save the item and copy the unique Fee Link from the SchoolCash Catalog > Item Fee window.
- Use a QR generator to create the code. You can use a third-party QR generator or follow the steps below to use KEV’s QR Code Generator:
Using the KEV QR Code Generator
To generate a QR code using the KEV QR Code Generator:
- Visit KEV Client Success Resources.
- Enter your District Name and SchoolCash Online URL.
- Search for "QR" in the upper-right search field or find the article under "Tell Parents."
- Paste the Fee Link into the designated field and click Generate.
- Download the QR code for use.
Using and Sharing QR Codes
Once the QR code is generated, it can be used in several ways:
- Add the QR code to flyers or posters.
- Upload the QR code as the item photo and distribute the preview window containing the code.
Parents can scan the QR code using their phone camera, which will direct them to the item. From there, they can log in or register to complete the payment.
